What is SMP?
SMP stands for scalp micro pigmentation. Simply put it means it’s a tattoo on your scalp that mimics short hairs and darkens your scalp, thus achieving the illusion that you have a full head of hair. It is not a real tattoo per say, the pigment is cosmetic, SMP specific guns and needles are used (both smaller) and the process which fades naturally over time is considered a type of permanent cosmetic, the pigment will not loose colour but it will fade over time requiring touch ups, typically every 4 – 7 years depending on your skin type and sun exposure.
Is SMP only for men?
SMP is for anyone experiencing hair loss. In the beginning it was a service that catered mostly to men but now women comprise almost forty percent of the clientele. Is SMP safe?
SMP is the safest of all hair loss procedures with virtually no down time, immediate results and minimal after care. It is 100 percent effective and works for everyone.
What’s the process?
It starts all too simply with a phone call, during which you will tell me briefly about your situation. We then schedule an in person or video call meeting where I will be able to assess your level of hair loss and determine how many sessions you will need. There are typically three or four sessions of two to three hours necessary to achieve the desired density.
When you come in for your first session, we will determine what hairline suits you best to achieve the most natural look. I draw it on and we double check together that you are happy with it, once that’s done, I start putting in the work. For women and individuals looking to keep long hair I simply start tattooing your scalp.
The down time is virtually nonexistent, there is no lingering pain after the procedure stops, you can walk out of your session and resume your life with minimal restrictions and after care for three days after which, you simply cary on until your next session.
